At Elite Gomma International, research and development never stop. We are proud to announce that in September our laboratory reached a new important milestone: the perfecting of two innovative colored compounds for precision molding, with full compliance for food contact.
This innovation represents a significant step forward for all sectors that require high safety standards without compromising aesthetics or functionality.
The Innovation in Detail
Our R&D team has finalized the formulation of two specialized compounds on an NBR (Nitrile Rubber) polymer base. These compounds were specifically developed for the molding of technical articles, such as high-precision rubber spheres, and are distinguished by two fundamental characteristics: coloration and certification.
1. Certified Safety: The MOCA Declaration
The most important feature of these new compounds is their full compliance with MOCA requirements.
MOCA is the acronym for Materials and Objects in Contact with Food. A MOCA declaration guarantees that the material has been produced following good manufacturing practices (GMP) and is suitable for coming into contact with food products in complete safety, without releasing harmful substances and without altering the composition or organoleptic properties of the food.
This makes our new NBR compounds the ideal choice for applications in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and packaging industries.
2. Performance and Color: The Advantages of NBR
The choice of an NBR base polymer is not accidental. Nitrile rubber is renowned for its excellent properties:
- Resistance to oils and fats: Fundamental in many food and industrial applications.
- Excellent mechanical strength: Ensures durability and reliability over time.
- Thermal stability: Suitable for a wide range of operating temperatures.
By combining these performances with the possibility of having colored compounds, we offer our customers a double advantage: the technical functionality of NBR and the possibility of using specific colors for branding, product differentiation, or functional coding of components (for example, to identify different phases of a process or different types of fluid).
Versatility: Not just Food & Beverage
Although developed with a primary focus on MOCA food applications (such as valves for coffee machines, gaskets for food processors, or components for bottling plants), the robustness and technical properties of these NBR compounds make them extremely versatile.
Their excellent resistance and reliability also qualify them for a wide range of non-food applications. They are perfect for any industrial sector that requires colored, oil-resistant, and high-performance rubber components, such as automotive, hydraulic, or precision mechanics industries.
